Recognizing student achievement
During the school year, we report on student achievement and activities of students from elementary school through college. We depend largely upon colleges and universities to provide us with dean's list/honor roll information, and local schools to notify us about school happenings. We will be glad to report on your child's/grandchild's achievements.
Reporting a death
Obituary notices appearing in The Cumberland County News are submitted through the funeral homes that are in charge of arrangements. While the newspaper will accept information from family members or friends about out-of-town deaths that are of local interest, we still require that the obituary be furnished by the funeral home. If the name and city of the funeral home are provided, The Cumberland County News will contact the funeral director. All local-area funeral homes are familiar with the information that will be published in an obituary.
